John Patitucci is my favorite bassist, the one I studied the most (regarding 6-String Bass) and the most versatile-complete bass player on both upright and electric. John, like no other bassist I've heard grows each time I here him play evolving with his OWN VOICE not cloning anyone else or catering to a style...simply said, it's all John. I'm very pleased to have bought my copy of this documentary highlighting John's growth as a musician, a family man and his faith. Kudos to August Sky Films for presenting a warm and thoughtful documentary of this brilliant musician.
Troy, thanks so much we really appreciate your kind words and glad you enjoyed the film. Please spread the word as we would love for as many people to see this film as possible as John is an inspiration.
Having discovered John via the Electrik Band I've been a fan ever since. John's playing inspired me to take up the 6 string bass.
His technical ability has never been in question, what's been really awesome to see and hear is his growth as a writer/composer. There was understandably a huge Corea influence on his debut album. Each album gradually allowed John's own compositional voice to be heard a little more clearly.
I've been more than happy to purchase this window into his life and to see that he is still hungry and is not content to rest on his laurels.
To echo Troy's sentiments, I must also congratulate August Sky Films for an excellent documentary of one of the true trailblazers on both electric and upright bass.
